We are so proud of G12 student Odelia Hsu and her recent art exhibition, Unframed.
The theme of her exhibition, “Frame?”, is a question she asks about the world around her. Through surreal and imaginative artwork, Odelia explores the “frames” that shape our lives — such as beauty standards, school expectations, traditions, and religious authority.
Her paintings are filled with bold colors and dreamlike scenes. At first glance, they may feel exaggerated or surreal, but they carry powerful reflections on real-life pressures and limitations. Things adults may see as “normal” or “natural” become thoughtful questions in her work.
What makes her perspective especially meaningful is that she creates from within her teenage years — not looking back on youth, but expressing it in the present. Her artwork moves between imagination and reality, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.
Through her eyes, we are encouraged to ask:
Is the world we know the only way it has to be?
Congratulations to Odelia on her outstanding work and creative courage. We can’t wait to see what she creates next.
