MS Assembly: World Issues Symposium

On Thursday, February 26, senior AAIA students enrolled in College Composition hosted a World Issues Symposium for all middle school students. To prepare, the seniors selected their own topics, researched key information, found and prepared activities, and practiced facilitating with their classmates. During the symposium, every middle school student attended at least 4 different sessions to learn about a wide variety of issues. Session topics included gender inequality, humanity, and biodiversity, cyberbullying, Racism, current events, and fake news, money management, AIDS, water conservation, human rights, and virus protection. The seniors were in charge of every session and led the middle school students through a variety of reflective activities and discussions. Based on student feedback, the event was a success for seniors and middle school students alike. Perhaps the World Issues Symposium will become an annual event at AAIA!
