Over the Summer Break, AAIA attended the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Ljubljana, Slovenia. During these five days, the students competed in group debates, collaborative writing, as well as quiz writing and quiz bowl competitions. In addition, our students represented Taiwan in the Cultural Fair, answering questions about Taiwan and sharing snacks, stickers, and other souvenirs with other scholars. In between these events, the students also got to visit Predjama Castle, hiked the Postojna Cave system, as well as visited the various shops, restaurants, and attractions in the city of Ljubljana!
We would like to specially recognize our students for earning the following awards:
G10 Anca Li earned Gold in Team Debate, Gold in Individual Debate Performance, Gold in Individual Writing, Silver in Team Writing, Silver in Scholar’s Bowl, as well as earning an additional Silver Medal for being one of the Overall Senior Teams to qualify for TOC;
G10 Jazlyn Shen earned Gold in Team Debate, Silver in Individual Debate Performance, Silver in Individual Writing, Silver in Team Writing, Silver in Scholar’s Bowl, as well as earning an additional Silver Medal for being one of the Overall Senior Teams to qualify for TOC;
G10 Leo Chen earned Gold in Team Debate, Gold in Individual Debate Performance, Silver in Team Writing, Silver in Scholar’s Bowl, Silver in the Social Studies section of the Scholar’s Challenge, Silver in the Special Area section of the Scholar’s Challenge, as well as earning an additional Silver Medal for being one of the Overall Senior Teams to qualify for TOC;
G8 Ian Lai earned Gold in Individual Debate Performance, Silver in Team Debate, Silver in Team Writing, and Silver for Individual Debate Performance, was a panelist judge for the debate showcase, as well as earning AAIA’s first-ever WSC Trophy for his overall performance in competition;
G10 Byron Li earned Gold in Individual Debate Performance, Silver in Team Debate, and Silver in Team Writing;
G11 Nina Ho earned Silver in Team Debate and Silver in Team Writing;
G10 Danny Hsiung earned Silver in Individual Debate Performance and Silver in the Special Area of the Scholar’s Challenge;
G10 Shawn Wan earned Gold for the Asimov Award;
G11 Chantel Shen earned Gold in the Social Studies section of the Scholar’s Challenge;
Additionally, Mr. Trojan earned an award for Coach of the Year;
We are very proud of all the students for giving up a part of their summer vacation to represent both Taiwan and AAIA in the Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup!
