G11 student Sean Shen is the founder and leader of the Service Learning Group, Love in Hualien International Youth Volunteer Group, which was founded three years ago. The group aims to support and provide care for the community in Hualien. Since 2021, they have participated in various works, from building roads to caring for individuals with disabilities during every summer and winter break.
During 6/7-6/11, our G11 and 12 students, including Sean, Moses Chen, Barron Tsai, Yo-Wayne Chen, John Chang, Aidan Huang, Aryana Yu, and Karin Mukai participated in several activities. They delivered Dragon Boat Festival rice dumplings to elders living in suburban areas and assisted in cleaning their clubhouse, and environment. They donated 20 boxes of Dragon Boat Festival rice dumplings to the Shoufeng Town Council’s Mayor Ms.Tseng for those who suffer from the unfortunate caused by the earthquakes. They assisted local farmers in selling their products.
Lions also helped the Hualien County Government organize water safety promotions during the Dragon Boat Festival, serving as water safety staff and cleaning up the environment afterward. They visited the New Dawn Educare Center’s newly established Joy Park, painted the walls of Dawn Joy Park, and assisted with cleaning up.
Lions accompanied patients from the New Dawn Educare Center to hand-peel Xiaonan leaves and extract pure Xiaonan hydrosol, enabling self-sufficiency. This marks a significant milestone for the New Dawn Educare Center. In the future, it could serve as a product of the New Dawn Educare Center to provide sustainable income.
Lions brought joy and support to society which are sustainable and long-lasting, and they will continue to contribute to the surrounding community.
